Frequently Asked Questions

1. What happens in my first session?
Your first session is all about getting to know each other. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you hope to get out of it, and how I work. I’ll also explain how your privacy is respected, so you feel safe and informed from the start.
2. What kind of therapy do you offer?
I work with individuals and couples using a variety of approaches, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), mindfulness, solution-focused strategies, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and the Gottman Method. Together, we’ll find the approach that fits your needs and goals.
3. Are sessions in person or online?
All sessions are offered virtually via secure video using the Jane app. This allows you to attend therapy from the comfort and privacy of your own space. I’ll guide you on how to set up your session so it’s smooth and secure.
4. How do I book a session?
The best way to reach me is by email. I usually respond within 24–48 hours. Once we schedule, I’ll send you all the details for your secure virtual session through the Jane app.
5. How much does therapy cost?
Individual sessions: $150 per 50 minutes
Couples sessions: $200 per 50 minutes
Payment is via e-transfer at the time of the session. I don’t offer direct billing, but you’ll receive a receipt for insurance purposes.
Veterans: If you are a veteran, you may have coverage available through Medavie Blue Cross. I am also a provider with the Partners in Canadian Veterans Rehabilitation Services (PCVRS) program, which helps eligible veterans access therapy and support services.
Cancellations: Please give at least 24 hours’ notice. Late or missed sessions are billed at the full session fee.
6. Is therapy confidential?
Yes. What you share stays private, and I will explain how confidentiality works in our first session.
7. How long will therapy last?
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Some people find a few sessions helpful, while others continue for longer. We’ll regularly check in on your goals to make sure therapy is helping you get what you need.
8. What if I’m in crisis or an emergency?
If you’re in danger or need urgent help:
-
Call 911
-
Go to your nearest hospital emergency department
-
Call Here 24/7 at 1-844-437-3247
Please don’t rely on email for emergencies, as I can’t respond right away.
9. Can I stop therapy at any time?
Yes. You are free to end therapy whenever you want. If you like, we can have a final session to review your progress and discuss next steps.
10. Do you offer supervision or workshops?
Yes! I provide clinical supervision for social workers and psychotherapists, as well as interactive workshops on mental health, trauma-informed care, stress management, and perinatal mental health. These are designed to support professional growth and learning.
11. What hours are sessions available?
I provide sessions in the evenings, generally from 5:30 to 7:30 PM, Monday to Thursday. If you need something slightly outside these times, please reach out and we can discuss options.
